I recently acquired some movies from a 'Friend in Sweden' ;),

----------

The one I liked most was The Butterfly Effect, starring Ashton Kutscher.
Ashton Kutscher is, and will always be "Kelso" or "that guy from punk'd" to me, and it felt weird seeing him in a serious role for a change, but that didn't stop me from loving this movie. It might be 'too Mainstream' for some people but I loved every minute of it. It never bored me, and a lot of the parts of the movie actually surprised me. I loved the end. (Won't spoil anything, dun worry!)

I absolutely love movies in this "psychological" genre... like "A Beatiful Mind" for example, although, I enjoyed The Butterfly Effect more.

----------

Another movie I saw was Army of Darkness, many of u lot seemed to know it, but I hadn't even heard of it before. I loved and hated it at the same time. I am not a fan of bad acting, even if it's on purpose... (Although Benny Hill etc I can appreciate). I felt this movie to be some sort of Monthy Python from Hell movie :x But then again, it put a smile on my face, and I finally discovered the "THIS, is my BOOMSTICK"-hype that was caused by Azaz quoting movies on Guild Chat ^^.

----------

I also saw The Crow and Boondock Saints again, but I had seen those before, I might just write a bit 'bout them, but I think everyone knows those two movies already?

The Butterfly Effect is not bad at all, although I prefer Editor's Cut. If you somehow manage to get hold of that version, watch it :P

Army of Darkness is the 3rd in the series Evil Dead (granted, first and second movie are close to identical... :P ), and you kinda learn to love Ash :P (he's one of those "duct tape can fix anything" guys... ;))

As for me... Well, Sin City is recommended, Comics > Movie, but they're almost identical, so it doesn't really matter that much.

Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi [Spirited Away] is a movie I really recommend; there were, after all, a reason it won best animated movie last year (or was it year before that?). Rather, most movies from Studio Ghibli are worth watching, if only for the awesome voice acting and animation. I'll use the english titles from now on, so you'll have a chance of actually getting hold of them:
Kiki's Delivery Service
Whisper of the Heart
My neighbor Totoro
Laputa - Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke

All of these are well worth watching, but if you're one of those grown-up, dead-boring persons, you might as well skip all of them. In fact, if that little kid in you is dead, don't even look at this list. These movies (save for Princess Mononoke) are for those of us that can still recall childhood's magic :P

Movieing on (*cough*, sorry). Clerks is a movie I usually have running in the background when doing the dishes/cleaning, mainly because it's a movie that doesn't revolve around what's happening on the screen; the focus and the jokes are often in the dialogue, there're very few "situational" funny situations... (at least if you've seen it a couple of times, then you'll be fine just hearing it :P)

The Usual Suspects - I've seen it a few times, and I'm still *glee*-ing in the end; this is a very nice movie.

The Aviator - Leonardo DiCaprio can't make serious characters. He's only in it for the looks, right? That's what I thought at first too. Until I saw this movie; excellent acting, and a very interesting character.

*Memento* - need I say more? :D

As for series - Battlestar Galactica, the new series (not the old one) is very awesome, if you're into Sci-Fi.

Last Exile, Bleach, Naruto... whatever anime floats your boat. Me? I prefer the mangas, really :P

And, as for the last video I watched... I think this one will need an explanation...

Okay, so a year or two ago, a friend sent me a torrent, I download it, get it all over with. Hmm, a music video? It's not named (only marked as musicvid.mpg), so I guess I'll have to take that risk and actually watch it.

Okay, so it's "Hooked on a feeling"... Now, wait a minu... WHAT THE FUCK DEAR GOD NO MY BRAINPARTS HURT MAKE IT GO AWAY *scrambles for power cord*

Anyway, what it turned out to be was a music video, of course, and it was indeed "Hooked on a feeling". Now, most of you have probably heard it, the original artist isn't bad at all. This, however, was a cover by...

DAVID HASSELHOFF

I'm not kidding you. So, about 10-15 seconds into the video, I frantically try to pull the powercord. This was the first time watching it. Since I have to purge my eyeballs from this horror, I quickly leave my home to get down to the cinema downtown. Regardless, this was 2 years ago or so. I completely forgot about the music video, to be honest...

Until today. While looking for my gigantic pilot of Battlestar Galactica, I come across this "musicvid.mpg"... So, I open it...

*gehehehe* It is rather fun, in a pathetical kind of way...Regardless, if you want a shot at it (remember, my FTP server doesn't log IPs, and the u/n given is anonymous anyway), you can now find it, correctly named, in root :P[/b]

I just realised that I actually HAVE seen Clerks, and that I love the movie. A Must See for those of you who are even remotely interested in Jay & Silent Bob.

Ps: Who would've thought that Azaz was into Disney? And Korean girls doing "Dance Dance Revolution"?

(Ok, I did expect the second one :P)

And what is wrong with Disney?

I've seen the butterfly effect and thought it was a pretty decent film. Not seen Ashton Kutcher before...wasn't too bad. Might watch that film again.

I've seen war of the worlds and was kinda dissapointed. Thought the design of the "robot" type alien structures were poorly designed. Although it was'nt bad..just dissapointing.

I also watched Jumanji the night before. Not seen it since I was a kid 8)

Bah, those girls are awesome! Once i can do them moves, I'll remove it :P (which is... never).

My inner child will never die, so the mid-90s Disney movies are quite teh awesome for me. Later movies work, but they drop drastically in quality at one point, and has so far not returned.

The Golden Era is around 101 Dalmatians (197...3?) to around 2000-ish, with awesome animation, good voice acting (usually the swedish voice acting is better than the american one, though) and a good, heartwarming story ^^ I could never be a bad guy, I'm too soft-hearted for that ;)

Anyway, I'm digressing. Despite the rather big timeframe we're talking about here, 30 years, Disney has upheld a high standard in their movies... But some of them are just... not that good:

Tarzan - This one is just retarded.

Pocahontas - same league as Tarzan. What's up with singing indian chicks anyway, they all seem to be on crack.

The Black Cauldron - This one... I remember when I first read the books; Lloyd Alexander is a great author, and took one of the best legends he could find and made into an awesome 5-book fantasy series. Disney tried to make a movie out of it. Of course, they failed. Miserably.

Sadly enough, after the 2000-shift (or around there), the quality of the animations themselves began to wane, and what's worse, the *Style* disappeared. One of the reasons I enjoy Disney movies are because of the style. Ok, I dislike Cinderella, Snow White and those really early movies, but if we're talking 1980-2000, the style is just pure perfection. But lately, their movies have become more and more computer-made, and it goes to show. The Emperor's New Groove, for example, is the only one of the new movies that actually work. Ok, Hercules too. It felt as if they found a balance in those two movies: the style was new, and the jokes/characters were funny enough to balance it up. Regardless, I'm more of a fan of The Little Mermaid to Aladdin/Beauty and the Beast/Aladdin style myself.

God, I feel so *macho* right now :P

Anyway, I'm goner shut up now (for a while, at least) :P

Jumanji! You're the second person I know of having seen that one! But, have you read the book? :D It's much better, especially if you draw yourself, then you can really appreciate the skill of the artist :) (shit, I really need to go now...)

Yet you have Mulan ? I've only seen trailers for that one, but it seemed to have horrible, modern animations afaicr. A recent Disney Movie, which I liked, and had -imo- "good" animations was... Lilo & Stitch.

Conerning Jumanji - I think a lot of people saw that one, I mean, it has Robin Williams an' all... I have it on VHS, and I have the boardgame.

Mulan doesn't use computer animation for *everything* though, at least it doesn't look like it does. Lilo and Stitch is one of my all-time favorites, yet the trend is quite noticeable: Disney movies are getting worse.

heck, they'll even make a live-action play of Kiki's Delivery Service :'(
And The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe...

Lately i'm lacking the time to see movies.
But disney, now that's something i really like :D
And as azaz says, the older movies have antoher feeling to them. Like the aristocats (which is still on of my favorites). I still like the new movies, but it's different. The movies they have made together with pixar are also very good.

Then to the clerks movie, i'm a fan of almost every Kevin Smith (silent bob) movie. Especially his first 3: clerks, mallrats and chasing amy (there's a quest in WoW with that name too ;) ). And i'm still waiting to see his latest, jersey girl.

See Dogma!
(its almost the entire cast from jay & bob strike back, with an equally insane story :D)

the disney storie: they kinda lost me after hercules (that one still makes me laugh out loud), but hey, i'm a looney tunes man anyway ;-) (bugs bunny for prez.)

i also liked the harry potter movies (books too). don't know why, but i think they are ok.

Been watching a few lately, brief review below of a few

Mr and Mrs Smith

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt star in this one so you think it would be good (apart from seeing Ms Jolie's assets). Was compltely dissapointed, the film is about a husband and wife who are both hitmen for different agencies who end up turning on each other. It has its funny parts but in whole the film couldnt keep my attention and isnt one i will be watching again.

War of the Worlds

Tom Cruise is one of my favorite actors and i couldnt wait for the release of this film after all the hype i had seen/read about it.

In complete honesty they should have left the original in its memory, it left much to be desired. The story, plot and ending was exactly the same, the acting was about ten times worse, the cast slightly better. For anyone who hasnt seen the original, its about aliens invading earth but this time there is no ET, they are nasty buggers. Out of a 10 score it would get a very generous 7 :?

The Wedding Date

One of those movies made with no particular star in it, its about a girl who gets invited to her sisters wedding and her ex is going to be there so hires a male escort for the duration (who is gorgeous). He is a complete gentleman, but with the rough edges a man should posess. He gains the affection and attention of everyone he meets, including the girl who hires him....

This is one i will be watching over a few times, a definate girlie flick tho ... not one for the guys :)

Seen all of the movies mentioned above... too many to give comments. :p

My favorites the last few months tho were:

sin city
million dollar baby
mr. and mrs. smith
be cool
sahara
kingdom of heaven
constantine
the machinist
hitch
closer

Those simply amused/amazed me the most.

Last few movies I saw were:

Star Wars 3: so and so
War of the World: so and so
The Upside of A,nger: almost made the above list
Millions: pfft
Cursed: good ol' fashioned werewolf movie :-)
Fakers: not bad

...well, could keep going, but I won't :p

btw, check imdb if you want reviews, I'm not writing any. :p
